North American Independent
Indigenous Community
![]() WHO WE ARE
We are a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(C)3 organization consisting of Native American, N.A.-mixed blood peoples, and others who simply wish to follow our traditions and live with us. We honor the traditions of all people, as we are an intertribal community. We are open to Native Americans, to mixed bloods, and to non-Indians who wish to associate with us.
THE DREAM
What we are truly trying to create is a space where many of us can be ourselves, be Native Americans, be of our own tribes while away from them, and try to help each other. There are as many traditions as there are People, and we will always face the problems of our different customs. This is not, however, a "come one-come all" community; it is a community which allows N.A. Peoples, as well as those who wish to associate with us, to be together in mutual support.
There are no restrictions as to who is or is not allowed. Just that the N.A. Peoples have a place to live together if they wish, away from the restrictions of mainstream society. There is no rent; no fees to join or to belong. You provide your own housing and pay your own utilities. Other than that, the only requirement is that residents work together for the benefit of the community.
Since there are many facets to Native Americans, then there must be many facets to N.A. culture. But overall, there is a certain specific commonality with us that is a desire to follow a spiritual path that honors Mother Earth and respects the traditions of all people. Traditions of course vary between families, clans, and tribes/nations. Our hope is to allow each person's tradition to be honored. Those of us who are Dineh will follow those ways; the Hopi and the Zuni will follow their own ways. The ways of each individual are to be learned by that individual through the teachings of his/her own Elders. We hope to have various Elders come live with and teach those in the communities who wish to learn.
For those Native Americans born off the rez, or unable to get the tribal ID cards because the role books or log books are closed, or because they do not have the documentation to apply, or don't know how to apply or who to apply to or what information is needed to apply..... we will try to help those persons, without charge (except postage costs), to obtain the documents and do the research they need to apply to their tribes.
And anyone is welcome to visit us in the spirit of understanding! !
COMMUNITY PURPOSE

The NAIIC shall participate in Native American cultural and community conferences, activities and celebrations, religous celebrations and ceremonies, will support Native American efforts to preserve wild life habitat and the natural environment, and encourage Native American involvement in cultural protection through arts and crafts production and traditional practices and ceremonies. (Definition: For the purpose of this document "Native American" shall be defined as the original inhabitants ot the land area now consisting of Mexico, the United States of America and it's Territories and Canada prior to the European invasion of the late 1400's.)
ACHIEVEMENTS
Currently we have been able to purchase 48 acres of land for our community and ceremonial site. We now have a place in a limited access "sub-division" which is permanently "fixed" as a community site. It isn't flat, has no power or phone right now, but has some of the most beautiful views you could get!!! There's plenty of room for ceremonial sites, powwows and residences!!! There's even room for horses!!!!!! We have also had several trailers donated to us, which will be used for housing for the community. These are currently in Denver, Colorado (see below).
We now have an 8 month old Arab colt, two pregnant mares which will foal by the first of February, and the possibility that we'll have an income from the Arab horses!!! Fun, fun!!
WHAT WE NEED
Prayers, people and money! We have been fortunate enough to have had some mobile homes (trailers) donated, but we need $2,500 per trailer to transport them to the land and set them up. We will also be needing to put in electricity, septic systems, water systems, fencing (for husbanding of goats and buffalo), and we will also need to dig a well. (see Donations section below)
FUTURE PLANS
Future plans are to set up community and ceremonial sites across the United States, which would allow First Nations people and their associates access to relationships which might be barred to them on the reservation or in more restrictive established communities. Currently we are negotiating sites in California, Ohio and Alabama. These sites will be open to Native Americans, mixed bloods and anyone who wishes to associate with us in following the traditions of the Red Road.
DONATIONS NEEDED!
Money is needed for many projects such as well construction, water and septic systems, running fences, building pads for mobile home sites, community buildings, crafts buildings and for a cultural center.
The Board of Directors has determined that we should have the following categories of donations: For donations of up to $500 the donor may be listed on our CONTRIBUTORS PAGE, for donations up to $5,000 the donor may be listed on our SUPPORTERS PAGE, for donations of up to $20,000 the donor may be listed on our DEVELOPERS PAGE and for donations of over $50,000 the donor may be listed on our FOUNDERS PAGE. Each donor may elect to either be listed or not be listed on our Donors pages. (these pages still under construction)
